Bring back the "fun" to "fun and profit"

Some of the older folks - like me - will certainly have read some e-zine articles with the high-sounding title "Do this and that for fun and profit".

That "fun and profit" was a sort of manifesto of the mentality of the time, where the fun of exploring, studying, and sharing came before anything else; but even the profit itself, implied in that phrase, was almost never seen as material gain or profit. It was rather a personal profit, of growth and improvement.

I remember those times with a smile, the e-zines and articles on various topics, not always related to computer science.
Decades have passed, and while the mantra "for fun and profit" seems to have almost disappeared from our vocabulary, scattered in the form of bits on the hard drives of those who still preserve those works of art that are e-zines, the world seems to have focused on "profit". This time reduced to mere economic and professional gain.

We have therefore been invaded by companies and associations, all seeking success and personal exposure. Almost no one thinks about having fun like they used to anymore. Or maybe there are still a lot of people out there, diluted in the masses; solitary people who, paradoxically, now feel out of place.

A famous motto says: "hard work, hard play, keep your mouth shut". I would prefer a variation on the theme: "hard work, hard play, share with your buddies".
That's why for some time I've had the idea of founding hack·a·mole, an association whose motto could be something like "build it, break it, build it again". An association focused on creation, on the development of ideas, concepts, prototypes, and whatever else you can think of. A refuge association where all enthusiasts of creation in the broad sense can feel at home.
